FMA: Escrima Attitude

This Grand master is from a different escrima style to our own. He articulates the attitude of all kail/escrima styles really well. His joke about what Escrima's "power" is, should make every escrimador smile. "We Live Longer".

4th Class: putting it together

Good 4th class this week. After a month of hard work a few things are starting to come together. Still lots of practice needs to be done but the basics of moving are starting to pay off.

The hot weather has made the class less than easy and everyone has shown great effort in both attendance and focus during the class. Foucus will continue to be encouraged, as it was this week.

Now for something a little less intense and I know how you all love burpee drills. Here is a game to help you get the process of how to do a proper burpee firmly in your minds: burpee game

(The burpee game is brought to you curtesy of Ross Training)

Hope to see you all again this Sunday ready to train hard.

Easter Escrima

Another good class today with maximum effort given by all. Everyone is moving very well and is at the every least avoiding being hit with aggressive forward offlines. This is a huge step and to have got this far in only two lessons you should all give yourself a proverbial pat on the back. Now it is simply a matter of practice, drill, practice, drill to get the movement and timing perfect everytime.

The good weather and bank holidays will hopefully give you the perfect chance to get out there in the garden and parks and really hone those skills. We expect good things from you all, but more importantly you should demand greatness from yourselves.

Last but by no means least we hope you all enjoy the long weekends.

Publicity: London Parks

Special thanks goes out to Muawiyah, Kane and Morgan today for helping us distribute leaflets. Thanks also goes out to those who arrived early and trained in Spring Field Park. The game of football and frisbee throwing doesn't officially appear on The Escrima Concepts syllabus and you will not be graded on your performance. Everyone showed a good level of energy and I'm hoping you have plenty left for the Class this Sunday.

We managed to reach a great deal of people and look forward to seeing new people joining our Escrima Family in the coming weeks.

Remember "Hard work pays off" guys.

Excellent first class.

This post is to thank all of those who attended the first Escrima class at York Hall. It was indeed first class. Everyone showed a lot of heart and gave the lesson 100%. Additional thanks goes to those who gave me feedback on what they thought of the class. The class was obviously something new and hitting muscles in new ways as two of the students who I spent the day with afterwards (you know who you are) were very open about their "tiredness"(I am being charitable and not using the word exhausted).

Joking aside, everyone should feel proud of what they achieved and learned in a short period of time. The level of energy and natural ability was impressive.

Special thanks goes to Peter, Nigel and Radek who provided excellent teaching support.

We look forward to seeing you all at the next lesson.
